Stay Dry in Spite of April Showers
with Our Favorite Rain Garments

As the saying goes, "April showers bring May flowers" — and we certainly hope so, because precipitation hasn't been a stranger so far this year. To celebrate the spring rains (and protect you from them), we've put together an edit of styles we love that will also keep you dry without being too heavy or warm. Here's a handful of our best waterproof and water-resistant garments for the springtimepieces that are perfect for layering, or styling as a shell on top of an otherwise "complete" outfit, keeping you dry while avoiding bulk.

I know what you're thinking: "Really? Wool pants on a list of rain gear?"
Yes, really. Because this isn’t wool off just any layabout sheep. These are made from a 100% wool waterproof fabric developed by the Woolmark Company. A completely natural waterproof weave, it's produced by stretching the individual wool fibers with specialized equipment before allowing it to shrink and set, achieving extreme density that keeps water out. Being an entirely natural fabric, it also breathes and drapes exceptionally well, especially when compared to comparably waterproof synthetics.

What I love about this Black Sign Anorak is that it feels Tactical without going all Zero Dark Thirty operator-bro coded. It looks cool as hell. It’s made from Nextec's proprietary EPIC-treated nylon, used by the US military in their layering system. It is thin and lightweight while still being durable and waterproof, with a diagonal zip front and front pocket and "A" frame design that makes for a roomy, poncho-like aesthetic.

MotivMfg has a knack for throwing together a handful of disparate references and coming out the other side with a knockout garment that feels at once rooted in historical reference and wholly new and exciting. The Hybrid Parka may be the best example of this, blending a British Dispatch Rider & Gas Coats from WWII with camouflage parachute material. The irregular camouflage shell is made from a specialty nylon taffeta that makes for a good barrier against the blustery wind that often comes with early spring.

A classic Fishtail Parka. Based on the M-1965 model with a stand collar (for a detachable hood), this Black Sign design hints at the British Mod’s love of the parka made from a distinctly British fabric. That is oiled cotton from Millerain, a world-renowned manufacturer of oiled and waxed fabrics. This particular fabric is treated with the company's proprietary (and secret) solvent for water resistance, also imbuing the fabric with a unique texture that will patina dramatically over time.

These may be the best rain pants out therea hybrid reimagining of traditional Norweger ski trousers and US Airforce L-1 flight coveralls, with a great fit and exceptionally tailored details. Made from a totally custom waxed cotton fabric, developed exclusively for MotivMfg, that is medium-lightweight with a smooth texture and excellent water resistance.

This may be the most elegant waterproof garment we've ever stocked; it is a seriously impressive piece of tailoring with an attractive silhouette, excellent fit, and remarkable utility. It's made from the same 100% wool waterproof fabric developed by the Woolmark Company as the Kinetic Trousers above. That means it also breathes and drapes exceptionally well, especially when compared to synthetic waterproofs – and it's much more sustainable to boot.
