What We're Doing: Activism December 18th, 2020

We've committed to volunteering our team's time to activism. Each employee gets paid to spend a minimum of two hours per week on activism.

Below is a list of what we're doing this week - it's organized so you can easily join us in enacting change.

Native rights

→ Download the US Dept of Arts and Culture's Honor Native Land Guide. This guide provides information on the practice of acknowledgement and how to turn that into action.

→ If you are a Bay Area non-indigenous resident, you can support the Sogorea Te's rematriation work by paying your Shuumi Land Tax.

→ You can contact Sogorea Te' at for other ways to support their endeavors and community, like by sending out postcards or putting up a yard sign. You can email them at info@rematriatetheland.org.

→ Check out Sogorea Te's recommended reading list for resources on rematriation, decolonization, allyship and solidarity.

→ The Three Sisters Collective and Keep Santa Fe Multicultural are still working on maintaining their Multicultural Mural. You can continue to get involved here.

Donate to the Defend O'odham Bail fund - support the O'odham communities that are being affected by border wall construction.

Small Business

→ Do you know a Black business that could use some love this holiday season? Submit their name to Color of Change's Black Business Green Book.

→ There is an excellent list of Black businesses to support here on Patia's Fantasy World.

REPARATIONS

Sign the Human Rights Watch's campaign to pass US House Resolution 40 to examine the impacts of slavery and other racist laws and practices, and recommend proposals to provide reparations for redress and repair.

Coronavirus

→ The Supreme court has begun hearings on a case to overturn the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Call your representatives to demand they defend the ACA as the pandemic numbers continue to grow.
