Taking inspiration from 20th century military riding breeches, Motiv have cut these shorts with a high rise and contrasting wide waistband. These feature precise pocket reinforcement stitching, another historical nod, as well as a drawstring inside the waistband that can be used to adjust your fit.

Made from a 100% linen HBT (herringbone twill) fabric that Motiv have sourced from Irish weaver Spence Bryson. Clocking in at a respectable 345g, it's a comfortable midweight fabric that sits right at the border between workwear and tailoring. It's initially woven up in a two-tone, utilizing white and natural (undyed) yarns before being overdyed brown as part of finishing. This complicated weaving and dyeing combo imbues a subtle iridescence and able textural variation to the face of the fabric.

The extended waistband is made from a 55% linen / 45% cotton blend, that gives the garment a touch more structure as well as contrast. There's also a single welted pocket in the rear, with a button closure, so you have somewhere safe to put your cash or government bonds.
