Founded in 2011 out of a desire to create higher quality and better looking clothing for hiking, camping, and mountaineering, And Wander is lead by designers Keita Ikeuchi and Mihoko Mori, who previously worked together at ISSEY MIYAKI. Initially launching as a menswear label, they've since expanded their sizing to include women's and unisex offerings as well.
The styles range from the more casual to the most hardcore technical apparel you can find, with each garment including an illustration of 1-3 mountains on the tag that denote its overall "field level" of performance. Pieces with only one mountain are suitable for everything from the city to the campground, two mountains work for more intense hikes and outings, & styles with three mountains are equipped for the most serious inclement weather and seasonal intensity.
The Wave Shorts are a highly detailed multi-panel hiking short with exceptional construction throughout. Featuring heavy duty double-needle stitching, they've got a slightly relaxed fit to breathe more easily, with poly mesh trims inside for moisture-wicking and comfort. The waist is thoroughly constructed, with an internal webbing belt that can be used to adjust your fit on the go, as well as a lightweight snap and zip fly.
They're made from a water-resistant stretch polyester that's sturdy in spite of its lack of heft or thickness. Like any good pair of shorts, these include two hand pockets, one at each hip, and a single zip pocket in the rear with vent eyelets that help with airflow and drying.
These fit true to size with an adjustable waistband. Wash cold and hang dry.
