From Victorian era curiosities to early 20th century equestrian and motorcycle wear to rare WW2 era items - Black Sign garments are beautifully constructed, with a shared identity and aesthetic cohesion running through the collection to a degree we rarely see in brands focusing on reproductions & recreations.
Black Sign's Driving Trousers were inspired by rain trousers, designed for and worn by drivers in an era when cars were not protection from the elements. Highly adjustable, they feature button tabs at both the waistband and cuffs for securing the fit, as well as belt loops and internal suspender attachment points to really drive the point home.
The fit is fairly relaxed, with a high rise, roomy top block, and two wide legs with a very slight taper. Not too loose or exaggerated, we'd call them comfortably wide, and easily styled with your favorite boots, sneakers, or thematically-appropriate driving shoes.
They're made from a 100% cotton military herringbone, designed to most faithfully imitate vintage US Army textiles. Woven with unevenly-sized yarns, it has a slightly more pronounced texture throughout that will age handsomely over time. The herringbone weave is also perfect for hotter weather, breathing more easily and draping more naturally than most other cotton fabrics.
For storage, you've got six roomy pockets - two for your hands, two at the rear, and the final two large gusset pockets sitting at the outside of each thigh. The cargo pockets were designed and placed specifically to make accessing them easily while driving, helping these trousers live up to their name.
