Blluemade's Autumn/Winter '24 collection takes inspiration from vintage prep styles, specifically those of the 1970s, with an updated color palatte for a more sophisticated and contemporary feel. Though referential to aesthetics and styles of the past, Blluemade's new collection is more modern in execution, having "roots in nostalgia" as they put it. The fabrics are exceptional, with plush Italian corduroy and cotton velvet that are perfectly suited to cooler weather and layering.
Blluemade's Long Sleeved Shirt is exactly what it claims to be, just a simple and high quality single pocket shirt, easily layered, with an agreeable fit that can be worn tucked or untucked. It's got long sleeves (obviously), a single chest pocket, and a classic collar, with tonal buttons up the placket and on the cuffs as well as a few pleats through the back for drape and shaping.
It's made from a deep green Italian corduroy, woven from 100% cotton, with a wide wale and subtle shine across its surface. The "wale" of a corduroy fabric refers to the thickness of its vertical rows (called "wales"), where "wide-wale" generally refers to thicker and heavier fabrics, while "narrow-wale" usually indicates more narrow or micro-cords. As soft and warm as any other world-class corduroy, it's got a nice heft to it, with just enough drape and a handsome texture that will only get better with time, as the nap wears down in certain high-friction areas, and the texture slowly changes throughout.
Each piece is designed in Brooklyn and then cut-and-sewn together in NYC's Garment District, at a family-owned and women-run workshop that Blluemade have been working with for years.
