Product details
Born from a mix of vintage sensibilities, practical need & the sort of madness it takes to want to produce anything the right way - Papa Nui makes some damn fine hats. Manufactured in Japan with the highest attention to detail and quality, with personality and a deliberate story behind each piece.
Adapted from the "Corsair Cap", one of Papa Nui's first ever hats, the Hellcat has been in development for the better part of ten years. It's cut in a simple 4-panel design, with an extended brim that takes its shape from vintage USN caps, and a balanced fit through the crown.
It's made from a 100% cotton fabric with a darkened rendition of "San Marco" camo - San Marco camo was developed in Italy in 1929, and was the first ever camo pattern to be mass-produced. Being featured in uniforms up until the 1980s, it's also one of the longest-issued camouflage patterns, and was the inspiration & blueprint for many of the other camos we know and love today. Custom labels and an embroidered Hino Maru patch can be found inside, the marks of a genuine Papa Nui Hat.
Available in Medium (57-58cm) & Large (59-60cm). Wash cold, towel dry for no shrinkage. Wash hot, dry hot for shrinkage. Maximum stretch/shrinkage is approximately 1-1.5cm.
