BLACK-TEA-CORE BORO SPRING 1st JKT
Product details
Kapital is undoubtedly one of our most unique brands, as well as one of our favorites. From their iconic Ring Coats and Century Denim to the scarves and bandannas we love so much, to their patchwork and Kountry pieces, and everything else they make, Kapital is a brand that has earned their reputation of style, brilliance, and just a hint of madness.
Kapital's Kountry line is where their masterpieces hang out. This 1st Type jacket is sewn from boro cloth created at Kapital's headquarters in Kojima, Japan. Each different fabric in the patchwork is started as new, and has been worked carefully to match archival textiles before being sewn into a jacket. The exact processes used to create these jackets are tightly guarded, like many of Kapital's best secrets, and this style remains unique to Kapital - imitations are often attempted, but never fruitful.
The Boro 1st Jacket is a rebuilt style of Type-1 jacket, identified by its pleated front, single chest pocket, and buckleback. The metal shank buttons are completely custom, with Kapital branding right on the face, and steel rivets reinforce stress points for additional durability. It's got a classic fit, with a relaxed chest and a short(er) torso, featuring slightly dropped shoulders and full sleeves - the buckle back can be used to tighten up the silhouette, but is an otherwise optional and minimal detail.
The "Tea Core" edition comes in a mud-black overdye, with rich, deep, and earthy tonal variety throughout. Over time, just like an indigo denim, the body fabric will fade, growing lighter and developing areas of higher contrast, particularly around the elbows, collar, and placket.
Very few Boro Jackets are produced per season due to the intense amount of labor that goes into making each one. Every piece will vary slightly from the photos as they are all individually produced, with unique paneling, stitchwork, and repair details. Every single inch of the garment features custom embellishments, whether its sashiko topstitching or boro patchwork - even the interior lining features a dyed-patchwork design.
