MotivMFG is Samuel Wei, founder of Radiance Blue and the pioneer of the heritage market in China; and Daniel Gu, a third-generation tailor and designer. Together they combine old-world tailoring from antique German manuals with workwear production techniques. Constant research into the garment making techniques around the world informs their design with the goal of creating “recreations” rather than “reproductions”

The Work Sack Jacket was inspired by the highly functional and stylish worker's jackets of the 1920s. Usually made from hard-wearing materials and cut into anatomical, tailored fits, Motiv's version is no exception, utilizing a 2-by-2 Japanese cotton hopsack fabric on the latest batch.

Cut into a four-button stance, the lapels hide a fifth button, which can be done up to remove the labels and raise the collar. Three welted pockets with flaps can be found across the front of the jacket, with another three more on the inside, so you have plenty of space to carry things. The inside features a soft buggy lining, to keep you comfortable without overheating.

The fabric is 100% cotton, loomed in Japan with a more open hopsack weave, and will breathe better than standard cotton twills as a result. Immediately soft and comfortable, it's a perfect weight for the warmer seasons, breaking in quickly and taking the shape of the wearer's body.
