Our advice on the chambray shirt is simple - everyone needs one. This particular one is a great blank canvas to wear the hell out of, repair, and wear some more. Made from an unsanforized 5oz cotton chambray, they start out slightly stiff and crunchy, softening considerably with time and wear.

The U.S.N. Chambray shirt was issued as part of the Dungaree Work Uniform by the US Navy in WW2. There is no canonical example for fit or details, as contractors were making these apparently based on whatever patterns they had around. The only commonalities were two chest pockets, (usually) a selvedge side gusset, a 2-piece collar, and some form of cats-eye buttons.

The Real McCoy's synthesized the best pieces in their vintage collection to make this ideal version from a Japanese selvedge chambray with a classic fit, featuring a relaxed chest and an elongated torso for wearing tucked in.
