The A-4 Knit Cap was a visorless (you guessed it) knit cap worn by Army and Air Force Mechanics during the second World War. 

The McCoy's version recreates it identically, in an olive drab, 100% wool knit that will keep your head warm even if you aren't doing mechanic stuff.
