Type B-10 Jacket - Rough Wear AC964
Product details
The B-10 jacket was an undeniably handsome and iconic but surprisingly short lived flight jacket from the final years of WWII. This was part of the first generation of aviation jackets to not be made from leather, instead using a fine weave cotton twill for the body with a full alpaca lining. The lighter weight and easier mobility helped make these an instant hit among pilots, which was really the only type of hit the B-10 could be, as they were replaced by B-15 jackets after roughly only a year.
Even more so than some other flight jackets, finding an original B-10 is damn near impossible in modern times. Eastman have thankfully worked very hard to amend at least part of the issue, creating this impeccable reproduction of a contract "AC964" Rough Wear B-10, going so far as to have a custom fabric made to most accurately replicate the originals.
Said fabric is a 100% cotton fine-weave polished twill - a tightly woven medium weight fabric with a subtle luster and moderate drape. While B-10 jackets from different contracts could be made from several different body fabrics, it was only ever the B-10 jacket that was produced from a fine-weave polished twill like this, with subsequent generations of jackets (B-15 and onwards) being made from different twill fabrics, or other materials entirely.
Inside the body and all the way through the sleeves is a 100% alpaca lining. Spectacularly soft and comfortable, alpaca is like wool's overachieving older sibling - it's somehow even warmer, insulating more than wool does without ever feeling scratchy or rough. The collar is a plush brown mouton (also spectacularly soft and comfortable) that can be fastened up with a hidden strap for maximum warmth.
Finishing it off is a period correct Talon zipper with a bell-shaped pull, and custom mil-spec urea buttons. The cuffs and waistband are a 100% wool mil-spec knit ribbing, also meticulously reproduced to match the originals. The two external patch pockets and single internal pocket are all plenty spacious as well, giving you a surprising amount of storage.
True to size. Spot clean or dry clean only.
