Inspired by vintage French military M38 field shirts, Black Sign's reinterpretation makes use of a handsome mock twist fabric, with a few updated tailoring details and a breezy, relaxed fit. Cut as a popover with a reinforced placket and band collar, it's a great work shirt for any outdoor activities, with a roomy fit that breathes well while untucked and two pleated chest pockets for storage.
The original M38 featured a pronounced a-line silhouette, meaning it was fitted at the top and flared towards the bottom - Black Sign have opted for a more contemporary profile, cutting roomier shoulders and a more relaxed chest, with straight seams down to the hem (so no flare). Thanks to its accommodating fit and comfortable drape, the Triple Low Twist French Field Shirt is remarkably versatile, styling easily as outerwear or just as a shirt.
It's made from a 100% cotton "triple heather check" mock twist fabric, with a slightly uneven texture and a plush, almost tweed-like hand. Woven from combined yarns, where three different colors of cotton are twisted together into a single thread before being turned into fabric - creating a unique and highly varied heathering effect throughout. It's finished with tonal buttons up the placket and sealing both pockets, and padded reinforced elbows for extra durability.
