Product details
Déborah Sitbon Neuberg founded De Bonne Facture to create purposeful clothing made with transparency and sustainability in mind. The line showcases small ateliers, primarily throughout France, but additionally around a few other parts of Europe — each one specializing in the product they craft. The line is nostalgic, reverential towards well made and well-worn menswear classics, and leaning into a more casual aesthetic for their beautifully-tailored designs.
De Bonne Facture take sustainability extremely seriously, with a design philosophy that relies on five pillars — "garment durability, atelier traceability, fabric provenance, the ecological impact of our supply chain, and the preservation of industrial know-hows". Their garments are built to last, using high end materials that will improve with time as they wear in, developing unique character with time.
The Traveler Jacket is an easy 3-button blazer inspired by the French Union des Artistes Modernes, an architectural movement that lasted from the early to mid 20th century. Halfway between a casual jacket and a more formally-tailored one, it can be dressed up or down easily thanks to its elevated details and slightly slouchy fit, making it an ideal jacket for trains, planes, automobiles, or however you travel.
It's made from a 100% merino lambswool, with a tight twill face and subtle texture throughout. The wool itself is grown and then knit up in Italy, featuring a soft hand and gentle drape throughout. The sheep who grow the wool are raised WITHOUT Mulesing, an agricultural practice that involves removing a large chunk of wool-growing skin from the sheep's hindquarters to reduce risk of a pest infection called flystrike.
Closing up with real horn buttons, it features three external pockets and no lining inside, making it comfortable and easy to throw on or take off while you're on the move. It's produced by the atelier of Mr. Erbas in Pantin, France.
