Founded in 2005 by designer Ichiro Nakatsu, OrSlow takes it’s name from Ichiro’s desire to make the opposite of fast fashion, or ‘slow clothing’, as he would put it.

Shop coats are one of our favorite types of infrequently-seen styles, with their elongated body and informal, slouchy silhouette. Historically, Shop Coats were strictly workwear - like the less academic brother of the Lab Coat, worn in workshops, factories, and on shop floors by laboring professionals. It's got four pockets, three on the outside, one on the inside, for storage, and a wide relaxed body that layers easily over other garments.

It's made from heavyweight Japanese herringbone linen, soft, airy, and washed down, the fabric is dyed with black Sumi ink, giving an irregular finish to the whole thing. The combination of 100% linen yarns and a herringbone weave make it exceptionally comfortable when the weather heats up, with a cool hand that lets air blow through and dries quickly.

It's finished with tonal hardware (buttons) to close up the front placket, and not a lot else. Over time, the textured face of the fabric will continue to fade, developing a unique patina as the ink pigments gradually wear away.
