MotivMFG is headed by Samuel Wei, founder of Radiance Blue and the pioneer of the heritage market in China; and Daniel Gu, a third-generation tailor and designer. Together, they combine old-world tailoring (from various antique European manuals) with workwear production techniques. Constant research into garment production techniques around the world informs their design, with the goal of recreating, as opposed to just reproducing.
Motiv's take on a traditional ski pant, these are some seriously thoughtful and advanced pants for the slopes (or for just looking really rad around town in, honestly). Featuring an impressive six pockets for storage, with tonal horn buttons and Talon zippers giving you different ways to close everything up.
Inspired by workwear fabrics from 1920s France and produced by Lovat Mills in Scotland, the Sporting Tweed is a 100% wool performance herringbone fabric, with a unique subtle texture & an excellent hand. It's woven from twisted yarns, made by spinning a worsted (long staple) yarn around a woolen (short staple) one. It does everything a good wool should - it's comfortable and resistant to abrasion, with moisture-wicking properties, great insulation, and a handsome drape.
These are cut with a very high rise and fitted waist (that can be adjusted with elasticated zip sliders at the sides), a roomy top block, full thighs & knees, and a handsome taper down to a knit cuff. Highly secure at the top and bottom, these pants trap heat in, while the relaxed fit through the top and knee give plenty of room to breathe, and don't restrict movement at all.
Fits true to size, with an adjustable, partially-elasticated waist. Spot clean or dry clean only.
