Since its founding 2001, designer Hiroki Nakamura's Visvim has built an extremely dedicated cult following. With a laser focus on crafting unique and high quality "future vintage" garments, Visvim has gained international acclaim over the past two decades for their unique perspective and exceptional design.
Not limited strictly to workwear or couture, they produce Folkwear, inspired by regional and historical manufacturing techniques from mud-dyeing to crocheting, with collections that build off of each previous year and develop holistically, season after season.
Visvim's Silk Stole is an extremely luxurious accessory, made from 100% Mawata silk and measuring a respectable 42" by 72". Mawata silk is a type of raw silk, made from processed silkworm cocoons rather than by spinning individual threads into yarns from multiple worms. The cocoons used in Mawata silk are boiled in water before being stretched thin across a frame in layers to dry, forming into a sturdier felt-like fabric.
Visvim's end product is exceptional - remarkably soft, with excellent insulation and a surprising lightness. It comes in a multicolor block pattern with various textural and tonal irregularities throughout. Visvim advice that the scarf may shrink some after washing.
