Since its founding 2001, designer Hiroki Nakamura's Visvim has built an extremely dedicated cult following. With a laser focus on crafting unique and high quality "future vintage" garments, Visvim has gained international acclaim over the past two decades for their unique perspective and exceptional design.
Not limited strictly to workwear or couture, they produce Folkwear, inspired by regional and historical manufacturing techniques from mud-dyeing to crocheting, with collections that build off of each previous year and develop holistically, season after season.
The SAS Covert Parka takes its inspiration from British Military jackets, specifically utilitarian cotton parkas employed by the Royal Air Force and SAS (hence the name). With an extremely relaxed body, it's meant to easily fit over whatever you already were wearing before the weather took a turn, and can be further secured with internal drawstrings at the hem and slightly above the waist. It's also completely reversible, with an ecru/natural interior that contrasts the grey body.
The outside features four flap pockets with snap closures for additional security, while the inside is left plain - save for the buttons and snaps that could be used to fasten in a compatible liner jacket from Visvim's catalog. The hood and cuffs are elasticated to help keep water off and out, as this is a light raincoat after all, with a covered placket and snaps securing the main zipper as well.
Great for layering, it's made from a nylon cotton blend - specifically, the outer grey shell is 77% cotton and 23% nylon, while the natural interior lining is made from 81% cotton and 19% nylon. The ideal medium weight, it dries fairly quickly and does an excellent job at keeping out wind and light rain when conditions are less than pleasant.
