The Garden Suit returns in a brand new fabric thanks to a brand new collaborator! After handling some of Lauren Yates' (the woman behind Ponytail Journal & W'Menswear) Brushstroke camouflage fabrics last year, we knew we wanted to make something from it. With our mutual friendship of Blluemade and Lauren's love of her own Garden Suit, we came up with the perfect plan: Brushstroke Camouflage Garden Suits.
The pattern is unchanged from last year - with a design based on historical workwear, our own experiences in the garden, and Elliot's very specific instructions for how the double knee should look. Beyond that, these feature some subtle old school details like a continuous (one-piece) fly and split waist with 2-prong buckle back.
These are an easy, unisex fit featuring a relaxed top block with a high rise, athletic thighs and straight leg that's just the right balance of being not too slim or too wide. The pockets are spacious and easy to access, and both legs have tool loops and pockets for actual utility, like to hold tools and things.
The fabric is a sturdy (but not stiff) 100% cotton twill, milled in Japan, with a deeply saturated brown-tone Brushstroke camouflage pattern. Though it's comfortable right away, the fabric will relax and soften considerably over time with washing and wear. Just like last time, the buttons are all undyed corozo nut, and will patina over time as well.
The NEW custom labels were designed once again by longtime Blluemade collaborator Tomo W. Adachi. The design celebrates this very groovy collaborative project, with a friendly little Lauren wearing her garden suit and the mantra of any successful group venture: "friendship, solidarity, good times".
These fit true to size with a snug waist that will relax a bit over time. If you're in between sizes, we suggest choosing the larger one, as the waistband can be brought in as much as 2" using the buckle back. Wash cold, hang dry.
