The Ren Cardigan is an outstandingly impressive piece of hand-knit outerwear. This heavyweight v-neck cardigan is made with a mixture of natural indigo-dyed Peruvian pima cotton yarns, and superfine undyed alpaca yarns. Alpaca is the softer, warmer cousin of wool, much in the same way that pima cotton is the sturdier, more comfortable sibling of regular cotton. Over time, these two yarns will relax, and the garment will open up, increasing in size by about 10%.
The simple three button placket closes up with tonal horn buttons, while the back panels and front pockets are secured with crocheted linkages. The complex knit employs a scattered gradient design, with the knit textile being produced as if it were being woven. It's a seriously heavy piece of knitwear, thick and hefty, certainly among the heaviest pieces of knitwear we've carried.
The finishing details include two hand pockets and knit ribbing at the hem and cuffs to help give the whole thing a bit more shape. Soft, warm, and solid, it's a wonderful piece of outerwear during transitional seasons and an equally-valuable midlayer when temperatures drop.
True to size with a relaxed fit throughout. Hand wash in cold water and dry flat.
