The Protective Combat Uniform, or PCU, is a 7-piece set of garments designed to protect against cold and wet weather ranging from 45F to -50F. This parka is the level 7 garment (the biggest and warmest of the set), designed to provide warmth and insulation in even the most extreme environments.
This is one of the most modern pieces of apparel that The Real McCoy's have taken a crack at reproducing, with the PCU being developed originally for improperly equipped US soldiers invading Afghanistan. The body is a custom 100% nylon, which is highly resistant to both wind and water, and dries quickly.
On the inside, a nylon ripstop lining serves the exact same function - trapping heat, wicking moisture, and keeping wind out. Sitting in between those two layers of nylon is an advanced polyester fill interlining, designed for maximum insulation while also drying quickly and staying light & compressible.
It's finished with a stand collar and removable hood, emphasizing the modular nature of this garment even as a standalone. The two front pockets feature waterproof zippers and flap covers, so you can safely store your most precious objects. Inside, there are two additional zip pockets for securing any extra stuff you might have.
