Description

The Outdoor Pile cardigan is a spiritually pure reproduction of the popular acrylic pile jackets of the early 1980s. Being lighter and simpler than many other pile jackets of the era, acrylic was selected over other natural fabrics for a variety of reasons: firstly, it was cheaper to produce, and insulated exceptionally well when compared to plain old cotton. Additionally, the fabric was lightweight and quick-drying, making it ideal for outdoor use.

To produce the fabric for their version, The Real McCoy's use a blend of different shades of red yarns to create a texturally varied outer knit. Inside, the fabric is all pile, trapping air and warmth in the millions of tiny pockets formed by the soft hairs. It's trimmed with a light blue nylon ripstop, 

With a single velcro chest pocket and two cozy hand pockets a little lower down, this thing packs a surprising amount of storage space. The tonal blue Vislon zipper that closes the whole thing up is smooth as butter, and if you needed to tweak the sleeves a touch, there are velcro straps just behind the wrists.
