One Pocket Overshirt - Undyed Rustic Wool
Product details
Déborah Sitbon Neuberg founded De Bonne Facture to create purposeful clothing made with transparency and sustainability in mind. The line showcases small ateliers, primarily throughout France, but additionally around a few other parts of Europe — each one specializing in the product they craft. The line is nostalgic, reverential towards well made and well-worn menswear classics, and leaning into a more casual aesthetic for their beautifully-tailored designs.
De Bonne Facture take sustainability extremely seriously, with a design philosophy that relies on five pillars — "garment durability, atelier traceability, fabric provenance, the ecological impact of our supply chain, and the preservation of industrial know-hows". Their garments are built to last, using high end materials that will improve with time as they wear in, developing unique character with time.
The One Pocket Overshirt is a very subdued and French take on a classic work shirt, with a relaxed fit, plush body, and single chest pocket. It's got a standard collar, closing up with real horn buttons, and a roomy fit through the torso that layers both easily and well — with a rounded hem, pleated back, and full-length tapered sleeves that button closed at the cuff. It's a more elegant upgrade to the standard cold-season work shirt, no less functional or durable, but undoubtedly more refined.
It's made from a 100% undyed virgin wool fabric that was raised and woven in Portugal. It's both certified by the Oeko Tex Standard 100, meaning it's completely free of harmful chemicals or substances, and mulesing-free. Mulesing is an agricultural practice that involves removing a large chunk of wool-growing skin from the sheep's hindquarters to reduce risk of a pest infection called flystrike.
It's immediately soft and comfortable, with a slightly shaggy flannel texture and no lining inside, making for an excellent layering piece. It's produced by the atelier of Mr. Erbas in Pantin, France.
