Since 2006, Mountain Research has been delivering some of the best outdoor wear around – both in style and function. The brainchild of Japanese designer Kobayashi Setsumasa, the brand has a singular focus on outdoor life without falling into any of any stereotypical ravines of the style. Kobayashi takes inspiration from the golden age of outdoor wear, military and naval designs, as well as modern mountaineering gear. Altogether, it refers to itself as ‘Anarcho Mountaineers.’
A truly unique garment, the Marble Sweat is at first glance a simple crewneck sweatshirt. Then you notice the multicolored snaps that run to the neck through the print and on the other side up from the waistband. A third snapped together panel is also on the back. Essentially, the crewneck has been cut open and snapped back together. This allows for adjusting of the fit, so you can wear it open at the neck or get some air flow from below at the waistband. It also just looks cool.
The Marble Sweat features a glow-in-the-dark print of "New You" across the front, a reference to the My Bloody Valentine song of the same name and a source of inspiration for the Mountain Research Collection.
