Description
The newest style from our friends at Ooe Yofukuten is the Lot OA01XX-0825, the 1920s Style Waist Overalls! These combine features from several of our favorite past runs of both the OA01 fit and previous runs of Boss Pants/waist overalls, but are made from a brand-new and completely custom selvedge denim. One of our favorite denim cuts of all time, the OA01 is a mid-century fit, with a medium high rise, relaxed top block, full thighs, and comfortable "straight" legs with a very subtle taper.
This batch is made from a custom "9oz" denim, which we put in quotes because the fabric actually weighs in at about 13oz after washing, and the 9oz measurement in the name is a callback to the original narrow-loom fabric that Ooe have recreated for these jeans. You can read more of the details about it on their blog, but in short, this custom fabric is a recreation of an old Amoskeag Manufacturing Company denim from before the standardization of loom and fabric sizes, which Ooe have meticulously reproduced.
Founded in 1810 and incorporated in 1831, the Amoskeag Manufacturing Company was a textile mill located alongside the Merrimack river in Manchester, New Hampshire, USA. Specializing in cotton fabrics, they held the title of "World's Largest Textile Mill" for a time during the early 1900s, supplying denim and other materials to their numerous clients, including the Levi Strauss Company, before Amoskeag's ultimate decline and bankruptcy in the mid 1930s.
Ooe paid a visit to Amoskeag in late 2022, and were given access to company archives and historical records, including original swatches and recipe books for different fabrics. This fabric grew out of that visit, based on an original recipe that Ooe were able to study during their time at Amoskeag, and is a 100% cotton, indigo-dyed, loomstate selvedge denim that will shrink considerably after the first wash.
It's packed with old-school details, from the two-prong buckle-back, to the 100% cotton thread used throughout, with exposed copper rivets, uncoated iron suspender buttons around the waistband, and a classic five pocket configuration. The pocket bags are also 100% cotton, made from an ecru twill, and the patch on the back is lightweight leather with custom branding.
These are an unsanforized aka "shrink-to-fit" denim. They will come in by about 15% during the first few washes, depending on the temperature of the water and how the jeans are dried. On average, this shrinkage amounts to approximately ~3 inches in the waist and ~4 inches in the inseam. Be aware that exact post-wash measurements can vary depending on how the denim is washed and dried (temperature and method).
We suggest choosing three sizes larger than your measured waist for the best fit after washing. Wash with cold (for less shrinkage) or warm (for more shrinkage) water and hang dry.

Size Guide
All measurements are in inches.
Made from an unsanforized aka "shrink-to-fit" denim, these will come in by about 15% during the first few washes, depending on the temperature of the water and how the jeans are dried.
On average, this shrinkage amounts to approximately ~3 inches in the waist and ~4 inches in the inseam. Ooe have provided measurements for each size before and after washing to help inform sizing decisions, but be aware that exact post-wash measurements can vary depending on how the denim is washed and dried.
We suggest choosing three sizes larger than your measured waist for the best fit after washing. Wash with cold (for less shrinkage) or warm (for more shrinkage) water and hang dry.
