Samuel Zelig is a brand to watch out for, featuring inspired riffs on workwear and sportswear classics that drip with personality - from every fabric to each individual embellishment. Either thanks to or in spite of their maximalist design, SZ pieces play well with others, blending extremely well with both the vintage styles that inspired them and more the more contemporary pieces they evoke.
Primarily focused on knitwear, SZ produce "Uniform" style basics with extensive customization and personality, with each patch or embroidery designed in-house for each specific garment. Thanks to their unique design and shocking versatility, Samuel Zelig pieces have become a staple around our shops, easily worn as statement pieces or intermediate layers without ever feeling out of place.
The Gallery Pants are a real sartorial flex - taking inspiration from 1900s art trousers, a sort of precursor to Ivy League souvenir pants, originals would feature painted and hand drawn designs. Samuel Zelig have elevated the style by swapping the illustrations for embroidery, with an all-over design that features several different motifs and art styles.
The fit is also excellent, featuring a relaxed high rise top block and comfortably tapered legs - the waistband is elasticated, with an internal drawstring for even more adjustment on the fly. The level of detail on the embroidery makes additional details a challenge, but they still managed to get two surprisingly deep welted pockets in at the sides, so you aren't left without somewhere to put your hands.
The fabric is a 10.5oz Japanese cotton/linen blend (65% and 35% respectively) that SZ have left raw and unwashed. Initially stiff but still surprisingly comfortable, these will break in over time, softening considerably and forming creases unique to each wearer. The medium weight and cotton/linen blend make it exceptional for most of the year, and the inside is all meticulously finished with French seams for a clean exterior that lets the adornments do the talking.
Fits true to size with an elasticated drawstring waistband. Wash cold on delicate and lay flat to dry.
