Description
The Double Heavyweight French Terry Pullover Hoodie is arguably the final and most "elevated" basic hoodie that can be produced. Visually simple, just about every detail has been considered: the shoulders are raglan, to ensure a perfect fit on the widest range of different builds, the hood features a double layer construction that gives it extra heft and makes it extra comfortable to wear, and the sides feature a band of vertical ribbing for ease of movement.
This version is a distinct combination of several things that Wonder Looper do better than anyone else, specifically with regards to the fabric. The first thing anyone will notice is the weight — with this knit clocking in at a substantial 825gsm, or about 24.3oz, it's roughly twice as heavy as the average "heavyweight" knit fabric. Knit with 100% cotton yarns, the fabric is a low gauge French terry with a slightly irregular face texture and soft, dry hand. The loops on the inside are relatively large, dense and plush throughout, it feels great on bare skin and layers comfortably with other garments.
The fabric is produced in Wakayama, Japan on tubular knitting machines that are similar to - but still distinctly different from - loopwheel machines. The cotton for these hoodies is called Foxfibre® — an organically grown cotton that is naturally-brown without any sort of dye or treatment. Grown here in the USA at a single-origin farm in New Mexico before being woven into yarn, it's an extremely unique cotton. For extra stability and comfort, the naturally-dark Foxfibre® cotton is combined 80/20 with organic Extra Long Staple cotton as its spun into yarn.
The color is further refined with an iron mordant treatment, where the yarns are soaked in an iron-rich solution to deepen and enhance the color, leading to an even darker brown that will develop a beautiful patina over time. The whole thing is finished with a drawstring for the front of the hood, a large kangaroo pocket on the chest, and more ribbing at the cuffs and hem, really everything you could ask for or want in a hoodie.
Fits true to size with a classic fit. Wash cold on delicate and lay flat to dry.
