The Bandhani Shirt from 11.11 features an exaggerated fit with a band collar and half length sleeves. The body is cut extra wide, curing out towards a more pronounced cuff at the end of each sleeve, creating a distinct a-line silhouette. The hem is flat, with a tonal button placket as well as a unique construction through the back that employs a large curved seam.
The fabric is handwoven, even down to the yarns, which are handspun on a single-spindle Gandhi charkha - a hand-operated spinning wheel used to turn bundled fibres into fine yarns without the use of electricity. These fine yarns are tightly woven together into a surprisingly airy canvas with a smooth face and gentle drape. "Hand weaving" in this context refers to using hand-operated looms and non-powered equipment, not literally weaving each yarn individually by hand.
The Bandhani fabric is characterized by a mini-tie dye design, a technique called Bandhani in India. The dye is completely natural, achieving a saturated black finish with a mix of ferrous, tamarind seed, and natural indigo (alongside clamping the item in specific areas to avoid dye, creating the pattern).
It has 11.11's usual trims, small embroidered details, like the top button and the little flower on the side hem, as well as the removable bottle with the embroidered cloth inside.
