Déborah Sitbon Neuberg founded De Bonne Facture to create purposeful clothing made with transparency and sustainability in mind. The line showcases small ateliers, primarily throughout France, but additionally around a few other parts of Europe — each one specializing in the product they craft. The line is nostalgic, reverential towards well made and well-worn menswear classics, and leaning into a more casual aesthetic for their beautifully-tailored designs.
De Bonne Facture take sustainability extremely seriously, with a design philosophy that relies on five pillars — "garment durability, atelier traceability, fabric provenance, the ecological impact of our supply chain, and the preservation of industrial know-hows". Their garments are built to last, using high end materials that will improve with time as they wear in, developing unique character with time.
The essential shirt is, well, essential. The platonic idea of a button up shirt with a not quite fitted silhouette, a single chest pocket and elegant French collar. The lightweight Belgian linen is airy with a lovely drape.
Made from 100% certified Oeko Tex and European Flax. The linen is woven in Belgium. The shirts are cut and sewn by Atelier of Mr. João Nuno Luz, Fanzeres, Portugal.
Made with felled seams, traditional curved hem, barrel cuffs, and cross stitched mother of pearl buttons.
