Since its founding 2001, designer Hiroki Nakamura's Visvim has built an extremely dedicated cult following. With a laser focus on crafting unique and high quality "future vintage" garments, Visvim has gained international acclaim over the past two decades for their unique perspective and exceptional design.
Not limited strictly to workwear or couture, they produce Folkwear, inspired by regional and historical manufacturing techniques from mud-dyeing to crocheting, with collections that build off of each previous year and develop holistically, season after season.
Visvim's leathers are some of their most impressive pieces. Beginning with the highest quality materials available, they're cut and sewn in Italy with absolutely masterful precision - the completed (but unfinished) garment easily standing alongside the finest leather jackets in the world.
The Dunlop Jacket is a 1930s style "sportswear" garment reminiscent of cossack-collar coats and Albert Einstein's famous leather jacket from an American denim company. Nothing close to an imitation, Visvim have given it their own details, from the slanted welt pockets, to the filled gussets at the side - with belt adjusters at each hip - to the fit and materials.
Speaking of the fit, it's relaxed, with a waist-length fit, roomy torso, and dropped shoulders, making it easy to throw on and move around in. The sleeves are fairly wide as well, featuring large fixed cuffs and a full lining so layering is never a chore.
It's made out of a beautiful pale green Lambskin nubuck from France. This vegetable-tanned leather is extremely soft and supple, and was finished with a special hand-distressing and crinkling process that gives it its unique creased texture and supple drape.
It's inside features a smooth orange lining that feels great on bare skin and slides easily over other fabrics, making it optimal whether or not you're layering. Due to the complex finishing treatment and materials used, please keep in mind that no two of these jackets will be exactly alike, and each may feature different distressing and leather texture throughout.
