Warehouse & Co came about in 1995, as the final members of the Osaka 5, the collective responsible for driving the vintage and selvedge denim boom of the 1990s. Founded by former Evisu and Full Count employees, the twin brothers Kenji and Kenichi Shiotani, Warehouse is known for their meticulous detail and considered construction.
Duck Digger is Warehouse's historically precise reproduction line, down to the year. This jean is a 1922 cut, with a medium rise and a full leg. Warehouse sews these up in their 13.5oz Banner Denim, which is a blend cotton grown in Tennessee, Texas, and Arizona, recreating the natural uneven yarn characteristic of the time. This yarn is woven on a Toyoda G3 power loom, one of the earlier narrow shuttle looms in use in Japan.
1922 was the first year the iconic 5-pocket as we know it now, and the first year belt loops were added in addition to buckle backs and suspender buttons. This one has all three, so your pants are staying up come hell or a recount in Georgia.
Construction details include 100% cotton stitching, copper rivets, and special period-correct short-shank fly buttons. The buckle and rivets have been given an aging treatment for an authentic experience. One particular detail that had us all going is the corner stitch on the back pockets where you can see the finer gauge inner thread crossing over with the coarser outer thread.
These run quite small - most people go up one full size. Rinsed, but we suggest a cold wash and hang dry.
