Fauves is produced in Japan, under the same designer as Olde Homesteader and Olde H & Daughter, two of our most elevated small brands. The label takes its name from "Fauvism", a short-lived artistic style/movement from the early 20th century, lead by Henri Matisse and Andre Derain - Fauvism was characterized by its use of bold colors and exaggerated brushstrokes, adjacent to the impressionist style.
Fauves' design takes inspiration from classic American workwear styles, looking specifically at mass-produced garments developed after industrialization. Each silhouette is meticulously enhanced, with exacting construction, custom textiles, and highly detailed tailoring, a stark contrast to the more simplified & utilitarian originals.
Modeled after vintage utility shirts, the Deliverer Shirt is an outstanding button up with a really dialed-in fit. Featuring two bucket pockets on the chest, it's true to size, with a rounded hem and pleated back for additional ease of movement. The collar has slightly rounded curves that end in more pronounced points than other shirts, a subtle but handsome twist.
It's made from a an extremely handsome hopsack cotton, with an airy grid pattern that blends dark brown and navy. Hopsack is a type of basket-weave, with a more open face for breathability, that breathes well and drapes naturally. Perfect as lighter outerwear during hot weather, it's an excellent layering piece when temperatures cool down, clocking in at a comfortable medium-weight that can be worn almost year round.
