MotivMFG is headed by Samuel Wei, founder of Radiance Blue and the pioneer of the heritage market in China; and Daniel Gu, a third-generation tailor and designer. Together, they combine old-world tailoring (from various antique European manuals) with workwear production techniques. Constant research into garment production techniques from around the world inform their designs, with the goal of recreating, as opposed to just reproducing.
The Draughtsman Shirt is another of Motiv's outstanding shirt silhouettes, inspired by vintage workshirts from the turn of the century. The collar is cut slightly elongated, with an elegant taper and a single chest pocket. The fit is relaxed, with plenty of space to allow the garment to drape, and a swooping curved hem that can also be worn tucked in.
It's made from a fine silk/linen blend broadcloth fabric with a really billowing, fluid drape and a soft hand. The smooth silk yarns combine with the more textured linen ones to create a slightly unevenly textured fabric with a very elegant character. It's pleasantly heavy, not extremely dense or stiff but comfortably substantial, with a very relaxed temper.
True to size with a relaxed fit. Machine wash cold on delicate cycle and hang dry.
