Dating back to 1933, the "Joseph Buegeleisen Co." in 1933 were specialists in motorcycle accessories and saddlebags. In 1947, they launched "Buco", a full apparel line with the slogan: “Motorcycle jackets, gloves, caps, belts and bags all cut and sewn by life long craftsmen dedicated to the task at hand”. The Real McCoy's purchased the Buco license and continues to produce goods that live up the original standard.
The Buco Checkered Cord takes its pattern inspiration from finish lines and victory flags - as for much of the history of Motorsports, colorful and patterned flags were the only way for drivers and officials to communicate during a race. The pattern really took off in the 1950s and remained prevalent through the 70s, but is still recognized today despite waning popularity.
Matching the Buco jacket that uses the same fabric, the Corduroy Bucket Hat is exactly that, a hard-wearing bucket hat made by McCoy's in Japan, custom trims and an unstructured fit. It's made from a comfortable medium weight 100% cotton cord fabric, featuring a checkerboard pattern and an unlined interior.
