Together, they combine old-world tailoring (from various antique European manuals) with workwear production techniques. Constant research into garment production techniques around the world informs their design, with the goal of recreating, as opposed to just reproducing.
Motiv's Cardigan Jacket takes inspiration from WWII-era Soviet Army felt coats, modified into a simpler knit pattern with some exaggerated details. It's got a relaxed fit, with a Chinese style shawl collar and two roomy bucket pockets at the front. The cuffs and hem are ribbed, but due to the weight of the knit and shrunken nature of the fabric, things drape more than they cling.
The material is really interesting: knit up from an 85% wool / 15% alpaca blend, it's an extremely hairy fabric that has been boiled for a shrunken effect and more springy knit texture. It's remarkably soft and not scratchy, comfortable enough to wear on bare skin without issue, and features subtle "vanishing" green jacquard patterning throughout. The front closes up with special rectangular corozo buttons, for that extra little pop of visual intrigue.
