A truly unique and technically impressive jacket, Y'2's Bull Hide Sports Jacket is a very limited run. Due to the extremely challenging nature of the leather used to make these jackets, they'll likely never be produced again, as a material this thick is exceedingly difficult to work with in any capacity, let alone for a full jacket.
It's made from 3.0mm thick bull hide - taken from uncastrated bulls, the hides are initially a whopping 5.0mm thick, and have to be thinned down in order to be wearable. Even still, this is definitely the thickest and stiffest leather we've ever seen on a jacket, with an incredibly pronounced and striking grain texture throughout every panel. The armor-like stiffness will require some serious break in, taking the shape of your body over time, but be forewarned - it will be a long time, and we genuinely only suggest this jacket for enthusiasts who know what they're getting into.
It's cut in a fairly simple single rider pattern, with big panels that show off the leather and Y'2's cutting skills, with two welted hand pockets and a heavy duty Universal brass zipper serving as the only notable details outside. Inside, it's lined in an olive green cotton/wool canvas, with nylon sleeves for easy layering - an additionally welcome feature with such impressively rigid leather.
Given the deeply variable texture of the leather, no two jackets will be exactly alike, with subtle differences in texture and tone between any two. Y'2 have done an exceptional job selecting their pieces while cutting, so that no individual jacket appears mismatched, keeping color & grain texture consistent throughout each panel for a given garment.
The fit is exactly what you'd expect, high armholes and fitted sleeves over a fairly "standard" torso that's neither relaxed nor fitted. Y'2 advise that due to the thickness and weight of the leather, the grain may crack and peel in some high stress areas over time, particularly around the cuffs - this is an inevitable aspect of aging and a consequence of the remarkable weight of the leather, and will not compromise the durability or longevity of the jacket.
