Designed in collaboration with Indigofera's good friend Coyote Thunder, aka Obi Kauffman, the artist/author/ecologist behind The California Field Atlas, The Coasts of California, The Deserts of California, The Forests of California, The State of Water, and the upcoming The State of Fire - you can find all his work here, on his website. Dreamt up after spending five days in the desert together, the pieces are natural and hard-wearing, built to hold up to the wilderness.
The Bighorn Sweater is made from a dense boiled merino wool that Indigofera call Power Wool. The boiling process shrinks the wool, increasing its overall weight and tightening the yarns, resulting in a thicker and shaggier knit that has an almost-fleeced texture. Merino wool comes from merino sheep, and is characterized by its high quality and long staple length, essentially just a more premium and higher quality wool textile.
It's got a classic full zip silhouette, with two slash hand pockets and a drawstring hood. The hem and cuffs are ribbed for snugness, and the front features a custom branded brass zipper with a leather pull. The front left pocket has a custom "The Total Desert" woven tag, designed for the collaboration, and the fit is contemporary, with a comfortable but fitted torso and full sleeves.
A perfect sweatshirt for late nights around the campfire, or as a mid layer when temperatures really drop, the 100% wool body insulates supremely well, and is soft enough to comfortably wear on bare skin.
