Product details
Based out of Japan's Iwate Prefecture, one of the northernmost provinces, Gorsch (the brand) was born into a quiet rural life, taking inspiration from antique German tailoring and early proto-workwear. Produced in highly limited quantities, their garments are beautifully constructed, frequently making use of deadstock vintage textiles, with tailored silhouettes and unisex styling.
The Spring/Summer '25 collection takes inspiration from a variety of sources: the designer's artist friends, Buddhist concepts of spontaneity, and the turning of the weather as things get warmer. The cuts are breezy and relaxed, with drape and airflow prioritized for maximum comfort, and a really fantastic color palette that shows off the various fabrics.
Gorsch's Culottes are some of the most technically impressive and interesting trousers we've ever carried. To call the fit "voluminous" would be an understatement, as the legs are designed with a complex series of pleats that effectively triple how much room they appear to have. They've got a unique side-entry waist, with the zip "fly" and button sitting at the outer hip, but the other details are more expected: four pockets, a handful of belt loops, and a soft lining through the entire inside.
They're made from a 100% Belgian linen — the ideal conditions for growing flax (the plant whose fibers are made into linen) are found in the temperate, wet climate of Northern Ireland, Northern France, and the Flanders region of Belgium. The title of "Belgian Linen" is actually a trademarked phrase that indicates that every part of the flax plant is Belgian and grown in Belgium, rather than flax seeds from Belgium being grown elsewhere (called "Belgian Flax" instead of "Belgian Linen").
It's an extremely soft, smooth, and high-quality linen, with a fluid drape and great airflow, making it well-suited to hot weather and the warmer seasons. The big wide legs are extra breezy, and feature an internal lining made from a super soft linen-bamboo blend that also breathes well, for maximum comfort and thermal regulation.
See our measurements for sizing information. Wash cold on delicate settings (or by hand) with like colors and a mild (linen-friendly) detergent, then hang dry — or dry clean only.
