Samuel Zelig is a brand to watch out for, featuring inspired riffs on workwear and sportswear classics that drip with personality - from every fabric to each individual embellishment. The Ballet Pants were an instant hit at the shop - featuring intricately embroidered legs, a spectacularly aged fabric, and a relaxed fit. Inspired by an illustrated a pair of trousers from the early 1900s, the original hand-drawn art has been elevated into a more permanent embroidery throughout, losing no detail in the process. The construction is serious, too, with triple-needle lap seams for extra durability.
The fit is excellent, featuring a relaxed high rise top block and very subtly tapered legs - the waistband is elasticated, with an internal drawstring for even more adjustment on the fly. The rest is kept "simple", letting the level of detail on the embroidery do the talking - but they still managed to get two surprisingly deep welted pockets in at the sides, so you aren't left without somewhere to put your hands.
The fabric is a 10oz reproduction USMC herringbone twill milled in Japan from 100% cotton yarns. After finishing, it's given a custom aging process to develop an authentic "sun fade" across the surface of the fabric. The medium weight and herringbone weave make it a perfect fabric for most of the year, breathing easily without leaving your legs feeling cold or unprotected.
Fits true to size with an elasticated drawstring waistband. Wash cold on delicate and lay flat to dry.
