The Real McCoy's Porcelain mugs are very emblematic of the way reproductions are approached at McCoy's HQ. At a glance, this is a simple, classic, 1950s style coffee mug, the type you'd find at a diner or a small local cafe - but under the surface, it's so much more.
Arita Porcelain is handcrafted in the town of Arita, in Japan's Saga Prefecture, with a history dating back to the 1600s - today, the superior craft and quality of Arita-Yaki pottery is renowned worldwide. Made from carefully chosen pottery clay gathered around the Saga Prefecture and selected for its unique purity, the clay is kneaded extensively until the desired quality has been achieved. The end result is stellar, they're glossy and delicate-looking, with a distinctly hardwearing heft to them that will hold up for years and years as long as you aren't banging them around or throwing them places.
This mug is finished with a Buco Helmets logo on the "front" and nothing on the opposite side. The bottom features proof of its authenticity as Arita Porcelain and a reminder that just like everything else from McCoy's, these were made in Japan.
