Pieces like this are where the old world techniques of Merz b. Schwanen meet with the modern sensibilities - using antique loopwheel machines to produce a super heavyweight modern fabric, demonstrating the incredible potential of loopwheel machines and an intimate knowledge of their operation.
The fabric is an absolute beast, the heaviest weight loopwheel fabric in the world, weighing in at a powerful 14.5oz (410gsm). Still being a 100% cotton loopwheel, it's arrestingly soft and airy, with a fantastic drape that comes from a combination of the knits heavy weight and low tension. In addition to it's substantial weight and remarkable comfort, the fabric also features a slubby and uneven texture (which is neat).
Featuring a relaxed fit throughout the body and long sleeves that end in soft ribbed knit cuffs. The short front placket closes up with three large tonal buttons, but is otherwise unstructured (because it's 14.5oz and doesn't need any extra structure, it's heavy enough). The torso is cut slightly longer to account for shrinkage, and looks great worn tucked or untucked (even after a few washes).
True to size. Will shrink ~1" in length after washing, but will stretch back out with wear. Wash cold on delicate cycle, hang dry.
