Product details
From Victorian era curiosities to early 20th century equestrian and motorcycle wear to rare WW2 era items - Black Sign garments are beautifully constructed, with a shared identity and aesthetic cohesion running through the collection to a degree we rarely see in brands focusing on reproductions & recreations.
Byron Collar sweaters were a popular style of sportswear during the 1920s, usually knit up from a fairly heavy and rough wool for maximum warmth and durability. Black Sign have reimagined it a little softer, using Australian Merino weaner sheep - these are adolescent animals, no longer consider lambs but also not adults - whose wool features some of the softness and luster of a younger animal, as well as the elasticity and durability of an older one.
Featuring a 7-gauge yarn jersey knit, it's cut in a popover pattern, with border striped sleeves and a fairly fitted body. Somewhere between a sweater and a henley, it's a great weight for almost year round wear thanks to the thermoregulatory properties of high quality wool. It's got an easy fit, comfortable through the body and perfect for layering, with an excellent blend of drape and snugness from the weight of the fabric and density of the knit.
Fits true to size. Hand wash cold and dry flat or dry clean.
