Since its founding 2001, designer Hiroki Nakamura's Visvim has built an extremely dedicated cult following. With a laser focus on crafting unique and high quality "future vintage" garments, Visvim has gained international acclaim over the past two decades for their unique perspective and exceptional design.
Not limited strictly to workwear or couture, they produce Folkwear, inspired by regional and historical manufacturing techniques from mud-dyeing to crocheting, with collections that build off of each previous year and develop holistically, season after season.
Visvim's 101XX Jacket is a subtle but brilliant update to the iconic type 2 jacket, with the original stylistic details untouched, and every aspect of the fit perfected. It's cut with an oversized body, dropped shoulders, and roomy sleeves, with a more fitted hem that enhances the wide silhouette of the body. In addition to the two flap pockets on the chest, two zipped handwarmer pockets are sewn into the side seams of the jacket.
Sewn up by master tailors in Italy, the body is made from an ultra soft vegetable-tanned French calf leather, with a black tea core dye and comfortable medium weight. Following sewing, the leather is patinated by hand, using gentle distressing to recreate the wear pattern of a much older jacket, based on vintage samples and the personal experience of Visvim's designer, Hiroki Nakamura.
Every detail has been considered and optimized, with custom Visvim hardware utilized throughout, from the placket, to the pockets, to the cuffs, to the adjustable waistband. The inside is lined with a tonal black nylon fabric, soft and comfortable, it makes layering easy by sliding over fabrics with minimal resistance.
