Product details
The L-2B flight jacket is among the very first "modern" flight jackets, the Korean War predecessor to the iconic L-2A flight jacket, and one of the first aviation jackets finished in a drab green rather than navy blue.
McCoy's version is stunningly reproduced down to the stitch count of the original, featuring all the proper details - from the period-correct zippers, to the reinforced patch on the placket (for clipping an oxygen tube to), even the ribbing has been considered, utilizing a nylon yarn instead of pure wool for enhanced softness and breathability.
The Real McCoy's version of this classic jacket is made from their custom reproduction 66 Nylon shell, in the exact same shade of sage green as the originals with all of the components carefully replicated down to the pen caps in the sleeve pockets. Nylon 66 was first unveiled by DuPont in the 50s, and was favored for use in military garments thanks to its durability, flame resistance, and surprising comfort - the McCoy's version is even more exceptional, with a silky smooth texture and respectable heft that will last a very long time.
Also, the main zipper has been finished with a black oxide treatment for color - this can contribute to additional friction and stickiness with the zipper at first, but will dissipate with time and use - please refrain from yanking or tugging the zipper while it breaks it, as it will reach an optimal level of smoothness and ease with time.
