Based out of Japan's Iwate Prefecture, one of the northernmost provinces, Gorsch (the brand) was born into a quiet rural life, taking inspiration from antique German tailoring and early proto-workwear. Produced in highly limited quantities, their garments are beautifully constructed, frequently making use of deadstock vintage textiles, with tailored silhouettes and unisex styling.
The Spring/Summer '25 collection takes inspiration from a variety of sources: the designer's artist friends, Buddhist concepts of spontaneity, and the turning of the weather as things get warmer. The cuts are breezy and relaxed, with drape and airflow prioritized for maximum comfort, and a really fantastic color palette that shows off the various fabrics.
The Round Yoke Trousers take their name from their construction, rather obviously featuring a rounded back yoke detail with curved welted pockets. Besides that, they're a great trouser that sits right on the line between formal and casual, doing both rather well but not quite master of either. On the side of dressy, we have their high rise and straight creased leg, which allow you to style this in more "proper" outfits, while the textured linen body and relaxed drape help keep things from feeling too stuffy.
Speaking of, the fabric is 100% linen, with a rough-looking canvas weave that's surprisingly soft and comfortable to the touch, and an airy face that's cool and breezy, even when temperatures are not. Thanks to its long staple length and the thickness of the weave, this fabric drapes beautifully and will form attractive creases over time, as is characteristic of well-broken-in linen.
Fits true to size. Wash cold on delicate settings (or by hand) with a mild (linen-friendly) detergent, then hang dry — or dry clean only.
