Fauves is produced in Japan, under the same designer as Olde Homesteader and Olde H & Daughter, two of our most elevated small brands. The label takes its name from "Fauvism", a short-lived artistic style/movement from the early 20th century, lead by Henri Matisse and Andre Derain - Fauvism was characterized by its use of bold colors and exaggerated brushstrokes, adjacent to the impressionist style.

Fauves' design takes inspiration from classic American workwear styles, looking specifically at mass-produced garments developed after industrialization. Each silhouette is meticulously enhanced, with exacting construction, custom textiles, and highly detailed tailoring, a stark contrast to the more simplified & utilitarian originals.

The Ranch Pant is a western-style straight fit trouser with some really clever details. The front two pockets are curved, with two welted rear pockets that feature pointed button flaps for additional security. The belt loops are extra wide, with more western embellishments securing them to the waistband and a gold-stamped leather flasher on the back.

They're cut with a medium-high-rise and two straight legs that fit easily over boots. Not quite slim, not quite wide, they're a classic straight fit with plenty of room through the thighs and calves. The fly closes up with a stainless zipper, and the waistband features one internal and one external button for security.

They're made from a an extremely handsome hopsack cotton, with an airy grid pattern that blends beige and khaki yarns. Hopsack is a type of basket-weave, with a more open face for breathability, that breathes well and drapes naturally. Perfectly wearable during hot weather, they're robust enough to keep around when temperatures cool down, clocking in at a comfortable medium-weight that can be worn almost year round.
