Product details
Déborah Sitbon Neuberg founded De Bonne Facture to create purposeful clothing made with transparency and sustainability in mind. The line showcases small ateliers, primarily throughout France, but additionally around a few other parts of Europe — each one specializing in the product they craft. The line is nostalgic, reverential towards well made and well-worn menswear classics, and leaning into a more casual aesthetic for their beautifully-tailored designs.
De Bonne Facture take sustainability extremely seriously, with a design philosophy that relies on five pillars — "garment durability, atelier traceability, fabric provenance, the ecological impact of our supply chain, and the preservation of industrial know-hows". Their garments are built to last, using high end materials that will improve with time as they wear in, developing unique character with time.
Their Overshirt style is exactly what it claims to be, a sturdy shirt-jacket layering piece with a relaxed fit, full lining, and four pockets (two on the chest and two for your hands). It's got a standard collar, closing up with real horn buttons, and a roomy fit through the torso that layers both easily and well. It's a more refined upgrade to your favorite winter flannel, with a clean-finish interior and pattern matching throughout.
It's made from a 100% virgin wool that was raised in Scotland and woven in Italy. It's both REACH certified, meaning it's free of harmful chemicals or substances, and mulesing-free. Mulesing is an agricultural practice that involves removing a large chunk of wool-growing skin from the sheep's hindquarters to reduce risk of a pest infection called flystrike.
The finished product is remarkably soft and comfortable, inspired by a vintage flannel that De Bonne Facture found at the St-Ouen flea market. It's produced by the atelier of Mr. Erbas in Pantin, France.
