The N-3 Utility Jacket was part of the "N" system of special purpose clothing (the N-1 Deck Jacket being the most notable) developed by the Navy in late WW2. The pattern is based on the loose fitting sack coats from civilian workwear at the time, with three patch pockets on the exterior.
The Real McCoy's reproduced the "shade 7" dark olive green herringbone twill used in the original, along with the laurel leaf shank buttons. The construction is far better than the originals, which were hastily cranked out for the wartime effort, which allows the utility of this jacket to really come through. The collar can be worn open or closed; as can the sleeves, allowing as much or as little ventilation as the wearer wants.
Fits true to size with a relaxed fit. Wash cold, hang dry.
