Samuel Zelig is a brand to watch out for, featuring inspired riffs on workwear and sportswear classics that drip with personality - from every fabric to each individual embellishment. Primarily focused on knitwear, SZ produce "Uniform" style basics with extensive customization and personality, with each patch or embroidery designed in-house for each specific garment. The Meadowood Crewneck features Samuel Zelig's usual stellar construction with a new custom design, depicting a fictional school's pretend mascot, taking stylistic inspiration from vintage American sportswear and academic athletic apparel. The front design is produced with a mixture of chainstitch and single-needle embroidery, and the back is clean and blank.
The sweatshirt pattern itself is based on vintage athletic sweatshirts from between the 30s and 50s. It's made from a 15oz, 100% cotton french terry cloth from Japan that's been given a vintage wash to prematurely patina the fabric and manage all shrinkage. The construction is solid, from the set-in raglan sleeves to the double-needle coverstitched seams - it's built to last a long time. The inside of the knit is unbrushed, giving it a more dry and airy hand that is more suitable for year-round wear.
These run slightly large - if you're between sizes, we suggest taking the smaller of the two. Wash cold and dry flat.
