Warehouse & Co came about in 1995 as the final members of the Osaka 5, the collective responsible for driving the vintage and selvedge denim boom of the 1990s. Founded by former Evisu and Full Count employees, the twin brothers Kenji and Kenichi Shiotani, Warehouse is known for their meticulous detail and considered construction.
Interesting to think about, but there's a decent chance that your grandpa's favorite hoodie was nicer than yours is (if your grandpa was the hoodie type). Inspired by vintage athletic knits, Warehouse's lot 451 Hoodies are as good as it gets, being made from a 10oz, 100% cotton loopwheel knit with a brushed interior and flatlocked seams.
The fabric used is knit for Warehouse at one of the only remaining loopwheelers on the planet, in Wakayama, Japan. There are only a few hundred functioning loopwheel knitting machines left anywhere, and a dwindling number of artisans trained to use and maintain them. The gravity fed nature of these machines, slow rotational speed, and number of yarns coming in (only 2 to 6 yarns, rather than dozens) produce the softest, lowest tension knit possible - but at a much slower speed than modernized knitting machines.
Cut with an old school shape, they're just a little bit boxy and just a little bit cropped, fitting naturally, with a flattering and comfortable profile on just about everyone. The front closes up with a very small talon zip, and two hand pockets give you somewhere to stuff your keys or to keep your fingers warm.
Fits true to size. These will shrink about 1" in all directions upon the first wash, but will relax and stretch back out with wear. Wash cold and dry flat.
